Woodwork just as bad as leaf blowers
I am reading an article from the May 22 Daily Pilot about how we are
going to get a new chief of police here in Costa Mesa. Actually, it
looks like he started his job June 16. And he wants to be the
people’s chief and hear about our concerns. And I saw here that there
is a hotline I can call with stuff that concerns me.
I find it disturbing that in this city they have a noise ordinance
that doesn’t allow, for instance, for leaf blowers to go longer than
a certain amount of time, or car alarms can’t go off for a certain
amount of time. However, it allows people to sit in their garages and
run power tools for countless hours on end.
I have a neighbor who has a supposed hobby of woodworking, and he
sits in his garage day in and day out running power tools that are
just so miserably loud. The police won’t do anything about it, the
city won’t do anything about it, but it is totally affecting my
quality of life. It is just downright annoying as can be.
I find it amusing that a city that won’t even allow me to leave my
trash cans on the curb pass the day of trash pick-up and can fight me
on that because they think it is ugly, won’t allow me to report a
disturbing of the peace. This noise is ugly, too.
