Parlor’s sunny side up

The Omelette Parlor may want to change its name to Sunny Side Parlor

because it will continue to shine thanks to a lease extension

agreement its owners reached with representatives of Vons, which owns

the shopping center on 17th Street.

The two parties reached a deal near the last minute earlier this

month, and many residents and business people are rescheduling

breakfast meetings. The 20-year-old eatery has been and will continue

to be a hot spot in Costa Mesa.

Vons officials planned to close it, as well as the adjacent

Chester Drawers, until the deal was reached on June 17. Chester

Drawers will still close, but the Omelette Parlor will become part of

the shopping center’s renovation plans.

It wasn’t the over-easiest situation for all involved, but we’re

glad the lines of communication didn’t stay scrambled. It turns out

the deal wasn’t too hard a case to crack. Well, that’s eggs-actly

enough to say about that. Bon appetit.
