CdM pounds Irvine at Cypress
Eleven players got at least one hit and the Corona del Mar
14-year-old Pony All-Stars won their second straight game of the
Cypress Tournament, this time a 14-4 triumph over Irvine last Sunday.
Vinnie St. John pitched three scoreless innings and added three
hits while earning the game’s most valuable player recognition.
Tyler Brady pitched well over the next three innings and Michael
Ford relieved in the seventh to close out the victory.
An RBI triple by Kyle LeGrand keyed a seventh-inning offensive
attack by CdM. Also in the inning were RBI doubles by Ford, St. John
and Blaine Nielsen.
Grant Heffernan and Reagan Riley added two hits apiece while
Brady, Ford, Bobby Manning, David Wheatley, Connor Whalen and Chris
Rosen all had singles.
CdM defeated Fountain Valley, 4-3, in the tournament opener Sunday
and faced Cypress Saturday and Corona today.
