Stabbing, robbery suspect arrested

Police arrested a 19-year-old Laguna Niguel resident May 23 under

suspicion of stabbing a 20-year-old who the suspect said had stolen

his wallet.

The victim said he was sleeping at a friend’s house, near 3rd

Avenue and Virginia Way, where suspect Scott Krissman was also

sleeping. He said he went to 7-11 in the morning to buy a pack of

cigarettes and mistakenly took Krissman’s wallet along with his own

when he left the house before 7 a.m.

Krissman found his wallet missing and ran to 7-11. He is accused of kicking the victim in the face, stabbing him in the chest, and

taking both wallets, Sgt. Jason Kravetz said. He then drove to work

in San Juan Capistrano.

A neighbor saw the victim bleeding and struggling, called 911 at

6:58 a.m. and drove him to South Coast Medical Center. He had a

punctured lung, but was listed in stable condition later that day.

Kravetz said he’s been released and wanted his name withheld to avoid

retaliation.

Police arrested Krissman at the construction site he was working

at and recovered his knife and the victim’s wallet.

The district attorney has charged Krissman with attempted murder

and robbery.

Assault suspect arrested at Sorrento

Police arrested Laguna Beach resident Charles Howard after he

allegedly assaulted an after-hours cleaning crew member with a deadly

weapon and tried to escape the Sorrento Grill through the front

window.

The cleaning crew, a husband and wife and their 15-year-old

daughter, let 30-year-old Howard in the back door of the restaurant

at around 4 a.m. when Howard said he needed to use the phone for an

emergency.

Howard used the phone in the kitchen, talked to someone briefly,

and then hopped over the counter and hit the husband on the head with

the butt of a knife, Det. Paul Litchenberg said.

The crew said Howard began frantically running around the

restaurant, picked up a statuette and threw it at the front window

four or five times until it smashed. Meanwhile, the victim called

911.

Police arrested Howard outside the restaurant after a brief

struggle and took him to South Coast Medical Center for treatment of

injuries sustained in the struggle.

Howard reportedly attacked the crew member, who wasn’t seriously

injured, when he asked to be let out the locked front door instead of

the back.

Police later took Howard to Orange County Jail to await assault

with a deadly weapon charges. He was already on probation for

domestic violence, Litchenberg said.

Police warn against handyman scheme

in a driveway sealing scheme or other handyman work should contact

Det. Paul Litchenberg of the Laguna Beach Police Department at (949)

497-0701 or (949) 497-0758.

Police have a suspect, but any other victims could greatly help

detectives’ case, Litchenberg said.
