Swanson shines in UCI victory

Sophomore left-handed pitcher Glenn Swanson delivered a gem to lead

the UC Irvine baseball team to a 4-2 Big West Conference victory over

visiting Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in front of 536 fans at Anteater

Ballpark Saturday.

Swanson pitched a complete game with a season-high 10 strikeouts

and no walks. He scattered six hits and allowed two runs to improve

his record to 2-7. UCI (18-29, 6-8 in the Big West) broke away from a

2-2 tie with two runs in the third inning. The rubber match of the

three-game series is today at 1 p.m.
