UCI tandem sets records
UC Irvine sophomore Erin Curtis and junior Jenny Liou set school
records at the Stanford Track and Field Invitational completed
Sunday.
Curtis won the pole vault with a clearance of 12-11 3/4, besting
the standard of 12-9 1/2 he set last season.
Liou’s ninth-place time of 10:47.01 in the 3,000-meter
steeplechase was nearly 10 seconds faster than the school record she
established in 2002. She qualified for the NCAA Regional
Championships, scheduled May 30-31 at Stanford.
Curtis had already qualified for the NCAA regionals.
Sophomore Suzanne Purmort’s time of 1:01.91 in the 400 hurdles is
the seventh-best mark in UCI history.
In men’s competition, UCI senior Darrell Tozier ran a season-best
1:52.03 in the 800 and junior Travis Morisoli clocked a season-best
9:33.82 in the 3,000 steeplechase.
