Trial set for accused child molester
A jury trial is set to begin on April 1 for Trenton Veches, a
former Newport Beach recreation coordinator accused of sucking young
boys’ toes.
Veches, 32, of Huntington Beach, who was arrested in April 2002,
will face 28 felony counts of lewd contact with minors and one
misdemeanor count of possessing child pornography. He has pleaded not
guilty to all charges.
Veches quit his job after the allegations. He is being held in
Orange County jail in lieu of a $500,000 bail.
In December, parents of three young boys allegedly molested by
Veches sued the city for negligence and negligent hiring.
Police search for hit-and-run suspect
Costa Mesa Police are looking for a suspected hit-and-run driver
who they say sped away after hitting two vehicles Friday afternoon.
The driver is described as a man wearing a black hat and having a
goatee, and the car is described as a burgundy Lincoln Continental
with a personalized plate “NOIVOR,” Lt. Les Gogerty said.
The driver hit one of the cars and then, while trying to flee the
scene, hit the other car, Gogerty said.
No one was hurt, Gogerty said. One of the victims complained of
some pain, but refused medical treatment, Gogerty said.
The cars that were hit suffered some minor damage.
