Firm misses earnings goal by a penny a share

A quarterly earnings report from Costa Mesa-based Resources

Connection Inc. missed analysts’ expectations by a penny per share.

The professional services firm said last week that it earned 12

cents per share, compared to the 13 cents Wall Street was looking

for.

The company said its continued investment in growth initiatives

continues to put pressure on earnings.

The company reported earnings for its fiscal third quarter, the

three months ending Feb. 28.

Total revenues were somewhat higher, but net income was flat when

compared to the same quarter of 2002.

Resources Connection also said revenue was down from

second-quarter levels because of the holidays.

Excluding the holiday weeks, the company averaged a 4% increase

for weekly average revenue, the company said.

Shares of RECN, which trade on Nasdaq, closed Friday at $21.40, up

7.92% on the day.

DNA fingerprinting will be offered

J. Foster Weems, DDS Inc., will host a DNA LifePrint Safety

Program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at his office at 1617

Westcliff Drive, Suite 201, in Newport Beach.

DNA fingerprinting involves taking saliva samples from children to

be used instead of fingerprints.

Law enforcement officials believe having a DNA sample ready to go

could help in an investigation.
