Fire damages golf club building
A single-alarm fire caused $5,000 in damages Friday afternoon to a
single-story maintenance building at the Pelican Hill Golf Club,
Newport Beach Fire officials said.
Firefighters responded to the call at about 2:06 p.m. and found
thick black smoke coming out of the one-story building, which stores
golf carts, equipment, tools and supplies, said Donna Boston, press
information officer for the Newport Beach Fire Department.
Firefighters made sure all employees were safely out of the building
and then rapidly put out the fire, she said.
Boston said the fire was confined to one building with little
structural damage. No one was injured. The cause of the fire is still
under investigation.
