Baylor humbles Anteaters, 4-0
UC Irvine’s baseball team fell to 4-9 Friday night as a result of a
4-0 loss to Baylor University in the first of a three-game series,
which continues tonight at 6.
Baylor struck for single tallies in the first, fourth, fifth and
sixth innings as it spread out 10 hits off UCI stater Glenn Swanson.
The Anteaters managed but five hits with Jon Horwitz the “leader”
with a double and two walks in four appearances.
Baylor starter Steven White went seven innings, striking out
eight, to get the victory.
A double play got Chris Durbin across the plate in the first
inning, Trey Webb’s base hit punched in a run in the fourth, Ford
doubled home a run in the fifth and an Anteater miscue (interference)
accounted for the final run.
Swanson gave way to reliever Kris Krise in the eighth, who retired
six straight for UCI.
