Pirates win sixth straight
* BASEBALL: Sophomore Kyle Allen pitched a complete game with 15
strikeouts to lead the undefeated Orange Coast College baseball team
to its sixth-straight win, a 3-0 victory over Merced in the opening
game of the Southwestern Tournament in Chula Vista Friday.
Allen allowed only four hits. OCC freshman Brad Miller pounded out
a RBI triple in the second inning. Sophomore Kyle Stanley also
finished with an RBI, while sophomore Ryan Mathes and freshman Dustin
Hicks recorded two hits each.
Orange Coast (6-0) will resume tourney play today at 10 a.m.
against East Los Angeles, at Grossmont, then travel to San Diego Mesa
for a 2 o’clock start.

* MEN’S VOLLEYBALL: Orange Coast College’s men’s volleyball team
put Pasadena City College’s club team away easily Friday afternoon
with a 30-15, 10-18, 30-16 victory on the Pirates’ campus to improve
to 3-1.
Setiam Allah had six kills and two blocks. Doug Lewis had seven
kills and Kaimana Kamalani, Kyle Desmet and Paul Pomroy each had six
kills.
Mike Alleman led the defense with eight digs and Matt Skonik had
six digs. David Doxey and Mike Murphy combined for 43 assists at
setter.
Coast hosts defending state champion L.A. Pierce on Wednesday,
starting at 7:30 p.m.
