Sage Hill defeats Patriots
The Sage Hill School boys basketball team completed the first
round of Academy League play in third place, after defeating Oxford
Academy, 62-41, Wednesday at Lexington Junior High.
The Lightning (8-10, 3-2 in league) received typically strong
games from senior Michael Fitzhugh (23 points, seven rebounds, four
assists and three steals) and junior Kevin Joyce (19 points on
8-of-14 field-goal shooting, four rebounds and three steals).
But Coach Steve Keith was also pleased with the contributions
turned in by senior Scott Cho (eight rebounds and four points) and
sophomore Matt Loper (a season-high nine points).
Sage Hill can solidify its hold on third place with a win at
Brethren Christian’s Warrior Center tonight. The Warriors completed
the first round with a 2-3 league mark, including a 51-32 loss to the Lightning.
