Blazers shut out Corona, take fifth

Seven different players scored goals and the Corona del Mar

Blazers downed Lake Forest, 8-0, to clinch fifth place in boys

under-13 soccer action in the AYSO Region 57 Plus Tournament.

The Blazers (10-2-4) won two games and tied one contest during the

tournament.

Corona received two goals from Thomas Dialynas and single goals

from Michael Bear, Michael Page, Riley Sullivan, Scottie Thomsen,

Andy Rovzar and Nick Freeman in the shut out win over Lake Forest.

Kevin Kottke, Stephen Hassman, J.P. Gormly, who also played

goalkeeper, Andy Morrow, Sullivan, Page and Johnny Heard played solid

defense.

The Blazers defeated San Clemente, 6-1 in the first round, with

Rovzar scoring two goals, including one on a header.

Thomsen, Freeman, Heard and Dialynas (two assists) each tallied a

goal.

Page, Hassman, Sullivan, Brett Bartlett, Gormly, Kottke and

goalkeeper Morrow led the defense.

CdM needed to win its game against Rancho Santa Margarita to

advance to the championships but came away tied, 2-2.

Freeman’s breakaway goal in the fourth quarter led to a 2-1 Blazer

lead, but Santa Margarita tied the game with a couple minutes left.

Rhodes scored the Blazers’ first goal on assists from Kottke and

Thomsen.
