Seaborn lights it up

Corona del Mar High’s boys basketball team got a big lift from

junior Pancho Seaborn Friday as the Sea Kings standout netted a

career high 30 points, and added a career-high nine rebounds in

pacing CdM to a come-from-behind 72-68 victory over Pacific Coast

League rival Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana in the fifth-place semifinal

of the La Quinta Tourney.

The victory sends Ryan Curry’s Sea Kings up against district rival

Estancia at 3:30 today.

Seaborn netted six of nine from three-point land and Kevin

Mancillas dropped in three treys. Bart Welch (11) and Brandon

Sherick-Odom (10) also stood out.

Eagles win, 61-53

Estancia High sophomore Carlos Pinto and senior Joey Lindquist

combined for 39 points to lead the Eagles’ boys basketball team (2-1)

to a 61-53 fifth-place semifinal win over Santa Ana Valley in the La

Quinta Aztec Classic Friday.

Lindquist, who scored 19 points, also grabbed 10 rebounds, while

Pinto poured in a game-high 20 points. Estancia senior Zack Novak

scored 11 points, while senior teammate Erik Andersen came off the

bench and contributed eight rebounds.

Mesa falls, 68-54

An 18-2 run by Bolsa Grande High in the first quarter sparked a

rally as well as a 68-54 win against Costa Mesa in the Valley

Christian Tournament at Valley Christian High Friday in Cerritos.

Danny Krikorian scored 21 points and Brian Molina added 11 for

Mesa (2-2) who plays at 11:30 a.m. today in a consolation game.

Sage Hill falls, 51-43

Michael Fitzhugh scored a game-high 28 points but it wasn’t enough

as the Sage Hill High boys basketball team dropped to 1-4 with a

51-43 loss to Coronado in the La Jolla Small Schools Tournament

Friday night in La Jolla.

“He’s really been spectacular for us,” said Sage Hill Coach Steve

Keith about Fitzhugh, who scored 34 points Thursday in a 73-62 loss

to Santa Fe Christian.
