Eagles trample Laguna Beach
Estancia High’s host Eagles were 5-1 winners over the Laguna Beach
Breakers in nonleague boys soccer action Wednesday.
Ricardo Avila scored twice and Javier Milan, Luis Mendoza and Geo
Macias each scored once for the Eagles, who improved to 3-2.
Quiroga Campos and Javier Ramirez were each credited with an
assist and Eddie Rubalcaba (six saves) and Sergio Madrigal (one save)
kept a lid on Laguna.
“We finally shook it up a bit,” said Estancia Coach Steve
Crenshaw. “We made some changes against Fountain Valley and we’ve
kept it going.”
Costa Mesa High’s boys soccer team dropped a 1-0 nonleague
decision at Northwood Wednesday, succumbing to an early goal in the
second half.
Goalie Wilmer Hernandez had seven saves and the Mustangs had three
legitimate threats on goal in the second half, but came up short and
fell to 0-4-1.
Sage Hill won twice in two days, belting visiting Calvary Chapel
of Downey on Tuesday, 10-2, and handling visiting Fairmont Wednesday,
3-1, to improve to 3-0-0.
Cesar Arriaga and Zack Milder each had a hat trick on Tuesday, and
were backed up with single goals from Zach Friedrichs, Julian
Smith-Newman, Ian Dull and Sam Fankuchen.
Arriaga scored twice against Fairmont and Chris Chiboucas also
scored.
