UCI just misses
UC Irvine guard Wendy Gabbe scored 26 points, but it was not
enough as the Anteaters’ women’s basketball team (1-1) dropped its first game of the season Friday to Kent State, which pulled out a
67-65 victory in the first round of tournament play at the University
of New Mexico.
Gabbe hit 9 of 19 from the field and 5 of 9 from three-point
range, in addition to 3 of 4 from the line.
Also in double figures for the Anteaters was forward Christina
Callaway (14 points) in UCI’ s four-guard offense.
The Anteaters return to play today at the same site at 5 p.m.
against the loser of the William & Mary-New Mexico game.
