Messages of ‘Harry Potter’ hard to ignore

The film version of “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” may

be the fastest way for author J.K. Rowling to convey her messages

about hope and life.

The movie presents ideal images and entertaining excerpts that

enable the audience to fully understand the purpose of the story.

This movie is about Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger

and their quest to conquer the forgotten mysteries of the Chamber of

Secrets that exists at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It

is said that the chamber has been opened by the heir of Slytherin,

one of the four houses of the school.

Inside the chamber, there is a monster that no teacher sees fit to

describe; but it is in the students’ nature to investigate this

unidentified creature.

A few victims become “petrified” due to seeing this “creature”

roaming about the school. No one dies from the sight of this animal

-- this is odd because looking this monster in the eyes supposedly

leads to immediate death.

With this knowledge, Harry, Ron and Hermoine begin their journey

to solve the darkness surrounding the Chamber of Secrets.

Many aspects throughout the movie, directed by Chris Columbus,

make it the success that it is. Ron’s humor, for example, allows you

to get in a laugh or two as you prepare to become scared.

The atmosphere in this movie throughout is never quite happy, but

mystical. The heroes are always trying to find the culprit, and it is

only in the end that pleasure arrives because they are successful.

The characters are very well defined and uniqueno two share the

same qualities.

The main characters in “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”

exhibit many traits that allow them to solve this dark mystery. When

they encounter new evidence, they fully accept it and use that

knowledge to improve their defense for what they believe.

Challenging one’s fears also becomes a factor; courage is the

gateway to self-discovery of one’s inner strengths. Courage and the

use of their instincts is what enables Harry and his friends to enter

the chamber and help with unlocking the secrecy.

Among the messages of the film is to follow your heart and believe

in the impossible, even if only your close friends are there to

support you.

This movie expresses so many important messages that everyone

should be aware of, and invites one to fight for the unbelievable.

“Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” is rated PG for scary

moments, some creature violence and mild language.
