Wind warmup will wind down today

Santa Ana winds were largely responsible for the unseasonable
balmy weather Friday.
The warm northeastern winds will continue through the early part
of today, said Noel Isla, meteorologist for the National Weather
Service in San Diego. Temperatures will range from the mid-70s along
the coast to the mid-80s in Costa Mesa.
It is likely to get more blustery in the passes and canyons, he
said. A wind advisory will stay in effect until 2 p.m. today, he
said.
“There is no small-craft advisory in the coastal areas, but we do
expect winds at about 15 to 25 mph along the coast,” Isla said.
Isla said the Santa Ana winds are part of a pretty normal weather
pattern for this time of the year.
“It’s common to have the Santa Ana winds blowing during fall and
winter,” he said.
Isla said the winds were expected to reach speeds of about 25 to
35 mph, but could rage at 55 mph in some areas.
No wind-related incidents were reported in Costa Mesa or Newport
Beach, public safety officials said.
