Newport runs record to 9-0
NEWPORT BEACH -- Newport Harbor High’s unbeaten club surfing team
won its ninth straight victory Tuesday morning at 59th Street with a
68-58 decision over Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana.
Morgan Hill and Brighton Brandenburger each got their second
victories of the season in the short board event, and Tyler Hosseini
was a heat winner, as well, in the short board. Joey Head was second
his heat in 1- to 2-foot swells on a “summer-like” morning.
Alex Knost won the long board (an event Newport had won every time
out this season) and Mike Beck was second in the body board.
In the nonscoring girls short/long board event, Erica Hosseini and
Amy Lowry went 1-2.
