Pirates sparkle at SD Fall Classic
MISSION BAY -- Under ideal conditions in relatively warm waters
Orange Coast College crew made an early-season statement with a
victory in the Collegiate Eight at the San Diego Fall Classic Sunday,
in addition to victories in the novice four and novice eight.
Coach Larry Moore watched his Collegiate Eight sweep to victory
over a pair of San Diego State entries in he three-mile head races.
Nick D’Antoni, the Pirates’ captain, stroked the boat in his No. 1
seat just an hour after doing the same for the Open Men’s entry,
which Coast finished in third to the University of San Diego and the
San Diego Rowing Club.
From D’Antoni to the bow were John Zeiser, Chris Lentini, Jake
Carr, Will Harris, Tobias Wacker, Tom Redoutey and Ryan Costelloe,
coxed by Sierra Caldwell.
Coast’s novice four boat, which was followed by the University of
San Diego and Tempe, consisted of Matt Chapman, David Frampton, Brian
Moran, Danny Johnson and coxswain Hanna Philebar.
The novice eight, which beat out Coast’s “B” boat, Loyola, San
Deigo State and UC San Diego, had Nolan Rousset in the bow, along
with Jeff Vreeland, Zach Papas, Wes Temple, Tim Carpenter, Fred
Fielding, Russell Mc Shane, J. T. Eger and coxswain Ashley Thomas.
