Mesa Verde Partners coming on strong
Defending Wednesday League champion Mesa Verde Partners made it
four wins in a row by routing Hobies, 10-3, in city of Laguna Beach
Men’s Summer 16 Softball Program action.
Steve McKinley nailed a fourth inning grand slam to highlight the
victory. Later in the sixth inning, he smacked a solo home run. Ryan
Neptune and Dave Sommerville each added a home run and single to the
offense.
Mesa Verde Partners, now 5-1, trails Sports World by one-half game
in the league standings. Bob Armstrong hit a two-run home run to lead
Hobies.

Sports World 7, Sofa Kings 1
John P. McMurray and Lance Stewart decided the outcome in the
first inning, each by hitting a two-run home run. The win kept
undefeated Sports World in first place at 5-0-1.
Scott Bakkum and Bill Toon added home runs in the second and sixth
innings, respectively. Sofa Kings managed just four singles off
Sports World hurler Randy Buck, two of which were hit by leadoff
batter Greg Kain.
Courtesy Auto Body 3, Forty Majority 1
John Verdugo broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the last inning by
hitting a two-run home run to lift Courtesy Auto Body to its second
win of the season. Verdugo also drove in the first Courtesy Auto Body
run in the second inning, when his singled scored Mike Jewell.
Jewell had reached base on a double.
Dooley Davis pitched a four hitter to get the win. One of the hits
he relinquished was a first inning, solo home run to Mark Lewis.
