Orange County Fair board elects officers

The Orange County Fair board has elected a new president and vice

president. Ruben A. Smith and Patricia A. Velasquez will fill the

posts, respectively.

Smith, who previously served as vice president, is managing

shareholder of the law firm of Alvarado, Smith & Sanchez. He serves

as general counsel for the Santa Ana Unified School District, is a

past president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and previously

served in the White House in the office of special assistant to the

president of Hispanic affairs.

Smith, 45, also serves on the boards of the Healthcare Foundation

for Orange County and the Central Orange County Economic Development

Consortium, and is a member of the Orange County Business Council.

Velasquez, 35, founded and is president of LUPAT Corp., a real

estate and mortgage brokerage firm. She is also a member of the

Hispanic Education Endowment Fund, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

and formerly served on the board of Habitat for Humanity of Orange

County.

Orange County Fair board meetings are held at 10 a.m. the fourth

Thursday of every month and are public.
