HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Erica Hosseini of Newport Harbor High,

competing in the Havaianas Women’s Pro at the U.S. Open of Surfing at

the Huntington Beach Pier, did not pass her Round of 32 heat Friday,

finishing fourth behind heat winner Julia Christian and World

Championship Tour stars Megan Abubo and Neridah Falconer.

Hosseini, 15, advanced to the highest profile heat of her career,

after surfing well in prior rounds. Hosseini caught only two scoring

waves, however, in Friday’s early-morning heat and finished with 5.0

points. Christian scored a 10.83, followed by Abubo (10.24) and

Falconer (6.63).

In the Round of 64 Thursday, Hosseini posted a 7.27 scoring ride

in a heat with few waves to advance.
