Three Costa Mesa residents finished in the top 10 of their
respective age divisions, with one taking the overall title in the
Dannon Duathlon Championship Series July 14.
Sue Davis won the women’s masters division, finishing the 10K run,
40K bike race and 5K run in 2:12.04.
Ann Fordiani finished fourth in the women’s ages 50-54 group while
Bill Fordiani placed sixth in the men’s age 65-69 category.
Davis, a former Corona del Mar High (circa 1980) volleyball standout, became a distance runner in college, but struggled with
triathlons in the 1980s because of the swimming. Having access to
water to train isn’t always easy, she once said.
But Davis started competing in duathlons and found immediate
success.
