Pony Baseball: Eadington no-hits Bulls

NEWPORT BEACH - Returning to the mound after an injury-plagued

season didn’t seem to faze Eric Eadington.

The 13-year-old pitcher for the Corona del Mar Giants no-hit the

Durham Bulls in Pony Baseball action May 11. The only baserunner came in

the fifth inning when he hit the third batter he faced in the hand. The

other three outs were two pop-ups and a groundout.

Eadington struck out 18 Bulls en route to the victory.

Eadington’s first game back from injury came April 20 against the

Reds. He struck out 12 batters in defeat.

The Bulls scored a run in the first when Vinnie St. John walked, stole

second and third and scored on a fielder’s choice.

Sam Sanfford led off the second with a single and stole second. Cole

Pass brought him in with an RBI single, scoring the Giants’ second and

final run.

Tommy Hutchison pitched well for the Bulls, allowing five hits. The

Giants have three games left before playoffs begin.

In other Pony play:

* Mud Hens 12, Dodgers 0 - The offense and pitching clicked on all

cylinders for the Newport Harbor Baseball Association Mud Hens as they

breezed past the Newport Dodgers in Pony Baseball action.

Brandon Salisbury pitched the entire game for the Mud Hens, striking

out eight batters, allowing three hits in five innings. He also walked

and scored twice.

Offensive firepower for the Mud Hens was provided by Nick Frazier,

line-drive single, three-run home run, walk, two runs scored and four

RBIs. Nathan Cramer singled twice, walked and scored three runs. Brice

Stillman had two hits and scored three runs. Will Klatte singled to score

two runs and scored a run. Tim Cramer had a hit and a run scored.

* Newport Harbor Bulls 13, Corona del Mar A’s 3 - The Newport Harbor

Bulls’ got contributions at the plate and in the field to defeat the

Corona del Mar A’s in a Pony Baseball game.

For the Bulls, Tyler Parker hit two inside-the-park home runs, earning

four RBIs; Thomas Southern tripled, had two RBIs and walked; P.J.

Errington singled twice and scored both times; Matt Kretschmar, who

pitched the first two innings, striking out two, singled and doubled and

had two RBIs; Michael Cantwell, who pitched the final four scoreless

innings, striking out four, doubled in the first, plating a run; Andrew

Lowery singled in the sixth and scored while Brennan Davis and Matt

Decker also singled in the sixth, with Decker scoring a run.

Jeffrey Lowery made a key out in the second at third base as Kyle Kula

made key defensive plays in the first and fourth innings.
