Lightning’s late comeback produces 4-3 win
Rallying in their final at-bat has become habit for the Lightning.
It took Lana Rutkin’s single to score Becca Sumner in the bottom of
the seventh inning to claim a 4-3 victory over the Terminators in
Huntington Beach Girls Softball 10-and-under Division play.
Rutkin’s RBI came after the Terminators staged a rally of their own by
scoring two runs in the top half of the seventh to tie the score.
Rachel Sumner had a single and two RBI and Taylor had the other RBI
for the Lightning. Becca Sumner and Taryn Devich held the Terminators to
two hits while striking out 10 between them.
The Lightning needed no such comeback, however, to defeat the Sisters
of Swat, 15-6.
Rutkin broke open the game in the fifth inning with a three-run home
run. She also had an RBI single. Keely Toma singled and scored three
runs, Rachel Sumner had a pair of hits and scored twice, Amanda Nicholaou
scored three runs and Kaila Kirkpatrick scored twice.
