Boys golf: Sheridan paces locals

CHINO HILLS - Costa Mesa High senior Bryce Sheridan shot 1-over-par

73 to enter the second day of the Pacific Coast League individual boys

golf championships two shots off the lead. Five other locals were among

the 14 to advance after the first 18 holes Monday at Los Serranos Golf

Course.

Corona del Mar juniors Tim Frohling and Nick Sherman each shot 76 to

finish in the top five, while Estancia juniors Jason Cassidy (tied for

seventh at 78) and Ryan Brown (tied for 10th at 79), as well as CdM

junior Brad Chamberlin and Sea King sophomore Robert Ury (both tied for

12 at 80) also advanced to today’s second day.

Four groups will tee off today at 11:30 a.m., also at Los Serranos, to

decide a league champion.

University High’s Mino Doonyaplanaun captured the lead by carding a

1-under 71 Monday. Uni’s Hunter Kenihan (74) sits third heading into

today’s final round.
