Swimming and diving: OCC men, women vie in OEC finals
MISSION VIEJO - The Orange Coast College men’s and women’s swimming
and diving teams finished fourth and fifth, respectively, Saturday in the
third and final day of the Orange Empire Conference Championships at
Saddleback College.
Leading the OCC men was Matthew Henry, who finished second in the
200-yard butterfly (2:00.07).
OCC’s other top finishers included Jason Aigner, who was third in the
1,650 freestyle (17:19.63), and the third-place 400 free relay of Jack
Yarbrough, Tyson Beamer, Billy Swanson and anchor Henry (3:19.03).
Grossmont won the championship with 655 points, followed by Riverside
(543), Golden West (534) and OCC (455.5).
For the OCC women, Ashley Lowden and Jennifer Nelson place second
(1:00.85) and third (1:01.21), respectively, in the 100 butterfly, while
Stephanie Wood was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.59).
Melissa Delzeit placed third in the 100 backstroke (1:03.98) for the Pirates.
Riverside captured the women’s OEC title with 729 points, followed by
San Diego Mesa (525.5), Golden West (432), Grossmont (421) and Orange
Coast (394.5).
