Community college crew: OCC crew sweeps

NORTH LIDO CHANNEL - One week after capturing the California Cup at

the San Diego Crew Classic, the Orange Coast College men’s crew continues

with its momentum as the Pirates’ varsity eight won their race over Long

Beach, Chapman and UC Irvine in a regatta Saturday morning in North Lido

Channel.

Coach Dave Grant’s OCC men won four other races on the day, while the

Coast women’s crew won the varsity eight race in 6:05. The UCI women won

the novice eight race in 7:15.

The OCC men’s varsity eight, rowing in Rob Jordan, finished in 6:05,

as Long Beach State, Chapman and UCI followed.

The Pirates also won the second novice eight (6:41), the first novice

eight (6:17), the junior varsity eight (6:20 and the novice four (7:10)

races. UCI finished second in the second novice eight and the first

novice eight races.
