Mets go the extra mile to down Rangers

The Mets fell behind early, rallied to even things up with the Rangers

to send the game into extra innings and then got a three-run home run by

Fred Thomas, to pull out a 7-4 victory in Huntington Valley Little League

Majors Division play.

It was the second hit of the game for Thomas, who also doubled.

The Rangers had grabbed a 3-0 first inning lead before Tim Higgins

came on in relief for the Mets in the opening frame. Higgins went on to

pitch six innings and allowed only one unearned run.

Higgins, Nick Mazzone and Richard Levinson each delivered two hits and

Huntington Hardesty tripled to ignite the Mets’ comeback.

Trevor Briggs had a two-RBI double among two hits and Weston Stephens

and Tony Ciarelli both singled to lead the Rangers.

A’s 11, Diamondbacks 1

The A’s came at the D-backs from all angles and continued to hold down

first place in the league standings.

The pitching duo of Race Parmenter and Alex Barnes allowed the D-backs

just one run on four hits. The A’s also pounded out 11 hits including a

pair of doubles by Barnes.

Other strong plate performances came from Daniel Watts and Chris

Ottens. Parmenter, Robert McKinley, Cody Moran and Trevor Springman all

singled.

The Diamondbacks received a double from Barry Luke and singles from

Tanner Phillips, Cole Carden and Steve Shamoo.

White Sox 14, Mariners 2

White Sox bats pounded their 14 runs on nine hits including a triple

from Pat Doran and doubles from Michael Bogard and Anthony Vidal.

Justin Thompson, Chris Kindness, Kyle Shibel and Nick Refice all

singled for the Sox.

Bogard also threw a strong game allowing just two hits while striking

out seven in three innings of work.

Karcher Morris and Finau Fiaseu each singled, and Drake Thorn and

Morris scored to account for the Mariners’ offense.
