Prep baseball: Sage Hill denied, 11-10
CYPRESS - The Sage Hill High baseball team produced a six-run
final-inning rally only to see it fall in the bottom of the seventh when
the Lightning gave up two unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh and
lost, 11-10, to Academy League host Oxford Academy Tuesday.
Sage Hill junior Zach Friedrichs, who went 2 for 3 with three runs
scored and four RBIs, pounded a three-run home run in the seventh to give
the Lightning a 10-8 lead. But the Patriots (6-6, 2-4) answered with
three runs in the bottom of the frame.
The Lightning (6-7, 1-5 in league) finished with eight errors. Tim
Wilkins, a sophomore, went 3 for 5 with a double, home run, a stolen base
and three RBIs.
