Students to compete in County history competition
A group of 22 seventh-grade students from Mesa View School’s Gifted
and Talented Education program will compete Saturday in the Junior
Division history contest at the Orange County Department of Education in
Costa Mesa.
The students bested the other history buffs in the Ocean View School
District’s History Day in California competition and moved on to the
countywide competition.
The theme for this year’s competition is “Revolution, Reaction and
Reform.” The Junior competition will attract students from middle school
districts throughout Orange County.
Seventh-grade students in the Junior Division will enter the
competition in one of five categories: historical paper, exhibit,
performance of a dramatic presentation, documentary, and Web site.
Students are judged on the quality of their historical research and
how well they demonstrate the theme through their chosen topic and
presentation.
