Roller hockey: Newport in first

The Newport Harbor High club roller hockey team defeated Edison,

6-2, at the Gretzky Center in Irvine to hold on to first place.

Cory Adler started things off with a first-period goal assisted by

Calvin Anderson. Chase Kelly added a goal with assists from Brett

Anderson and Jared McRae.

Brett Anderson scored in the second period with and assist from Calvin

Anderson and Newport iced the win with third-period goals by Vincent

Mungo and Brett Anderson. Both goals were assisted by Kelly.

Elliott Thacker, playing for Newport’s injured goaltender David

Christianson, made six saves. Newport is in first place with one game

left before the playoffs.
