Men’s golf: Koyama paces Pirates
SANTA ANA - Orange Coast College sophomore Go Koyama, normally the
No. 5 player on the men’s golf team, was low man for the Pirates
Wednesday to key Orange Empire Conference victories over Riverside,
Santiago Canyon and Golden West in a four-team match at Santa Ana Country
Club.
Koyama’s 2-over round of 72 was third best on the day to help OCC
compile a team score of 374. Riverside (375), Santiago Canyon (382) and
Golden West (410) could not keep pace as the Pirates improved to 11-1,
4-0 in conference.
Lou Carrasco (73), Fredrik Svanberg (75), Brock Noteboom (75) and
Kelly Wicks (79) also scored for the Pirates.
Santiago Canyon’s Ricky Santana (69) was medalist, followed by
Riverside’s Kevin Allo (71).
“This was a big, big win for us,” OCC Coach Barry Wallace said.
