SATURDAY

The Orange County California Genealogical Society will meet beginning

9 a.m. March 2 at the Huntington Beach Central Library, 7111 Talbert Ave.

The meeting will include the group’s annual book fair. The basic

genealogy for beginners will meet at 10:15 a.m. The computer user group

will meet at 12:30 p.m. with a presentation on Personal History Writer

Huntington Beach High School will host its 3rd annual golf tournament

to benefit the school’s athletic and student programs. The event will

begin at 9 a.m., March 11 at SeaCliff Country Club, 6501 Palm Ave. Cost is $195 for golf, auction and awards dinner. Non-golfers can attend

Huntington Beach Newcomers will hold their Main Event Luncheon on the

second Tuesday of each month. The group’s purpose is to develop interest

The Huntington Beach American Legion Post 133 meets the third

Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Rodgers Seniors’ Center, 1706

health-related seminars, including low-fat cuisine, decoding food labels,

PARENTING/FAMILY

The North Huntington Beach Mom’s Club Playgroup will meet weekly

throughout Huntington Beach parks. Playgroups will meet at 3 p.m.

The Orange County Chapter of the California Assn. of Family and

Marriage Therapists is sponsoring a weekly education workshop for couples

and families. The first topic of the free workshop is “The Five Laws of

Love.” Different therapists will speak each week to discuss a variety of

The Moms Offering Moms Support Club, a nonprofit support group for

stay-at-home mothers, organizes daily activities for mothers and their

children including park play days, fun field trips and age appropriate

play groups. Special interest activities just for mom are included. Every

month, members perform service projects to assist several organizations

The Pacific Coast Mothers Club, based in the Huntington Beach area, is

actively seeking new members. The group offers stay-at-home and employed

mothers an opportunity to socialize and make lifelong friends with other

moms, kids and families. The club offers weekly, age specific play

outings just for moms, and volunteer opportunities that benefit local

The Alzheimer’s Assn. of Orange County co-sponsors a free support

group for caregivers living in the Huntington Beach area at 7 p.m. the

first and third Tuesday of each month at Christ Presbyterian Church,

Jewish Family Service offers free ongoing bereavement support groups

for adults at all stages of loss at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and 1

p.m. Thursdays. The groups share experiences about dealing with grief,

receive support and learn ways to cope with sadness and loss. Location
