Huntington Beach resident Vince Bevins has been nominated for a
presidential scholarship. The Presidential Scholars Program is one of the
highest honors given to graduating high school seniors. Winners were
selected based on College Board SAT or ACT Assessment performance as well
as self-assessment essays they have written. Their submissions will be
reviewed and 500 semifinalists will be selected in April. He is a senior
at Servite High School and the son of Ron and Maryceleste Bevins. . . .
Cadet David Eastman was named to the dean’s list at the U.S. Military
Academy at West Point. Eastman graduated from the Calvary Chapel
Independent Study Program in 1999. He is studying law and plans to
graduate from West Point in 2003 and be commissioned a second lieutenant
in the U.S. Army. He is the son of Judy Eastman of Huntington Beach and
David Eastman of Irvine. . . . Air Force Airman Travis Wright has
graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San
Antonio, Texas. During training his studies included organization and
customs, drill and ceremony and the Air Force Mission. He is a 2001
graduate of Edison High School and the son of Sally and Keith Wright of
Huntington Beach.
