UC Irvine senior guard Jerry Green was selected as the Big West

Player of the Week for men’s basketball by the conference’s sports

information directors.

Green averaged 26.0 points and 5.0 assists in wins over Cal Polyand UC

Santa Barbara last week. He scored 29 points, the most by any player last

week, in a win over UCSB on Saturday night.

He had a go-ahead basket and three clutch free throws in the closing

minute. He also hit 26 of 30 free throws (86.7%) in the two games. It is

the third time this season Green has earned Player of the Week honors.

Green has a school-record 1,916 career points to rank seventh in Big

West Conference history. He also is UCI’s career leader in steals (159),

field goals (645) and made free throws (514).
