Newport Harbor junior an award finalist
A young Newport Beach dancer has been chosen as a finalist in the
classical dance category of the 14th annual Spotlight Awards.
Diane Booth, 16, a junior at Newport Harbor High School, was chosen
along with one other finalist on Jan. 27. There were 22 semifinalists.
The 14th annual Music Center Spotlight Awards began in the summer,
when Southern California high school students auditioned in six
performance categories.
The finalists are still being chosen for other categories.
In April, all 12 finalists will perform at a gala competition in the
Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and six winners will be chosen.
Winners will receive $5,000 in cash scholarships, and runners-up will
receive scholarships worth $2,500.
Christina Fulcher of Newport Beach was another semifinalist in the
classical dance category.
