Estancia socks it to CdM
CORONA DEL MAR - Estancia High’s boys soccer team dealt a heavy
blow to Corona del Mar’s hopes for a CIF Playoffs berth Wednesday as the
Eagles dominated the Pacific Coast League match on Corona’s turf, 3-1.
The Eagles struck first and took a 2-0 lead by halftime, thanks to
goals from Noe Martinez and Geo Macias.
Martinez scored on a penalty kick and Macias, with a deep shot, had
Estancia in the driver’s seat.
Corona del Mar cut it to 2-1 some seven minutes into the second half
on Shogo Fujii’s goal, which came from within a scramble and finished
with a couple of good moves to get open from the left side.
Estancia clinched it midway through the second half when Javier Millan
deflected the ball and then, with a nice touch pass, got it to Victor
Cervantes, who drove the ball in on the Estancia improves to 5-11, 2-5 in
the PCL. Corona del Mar sags to 5-9-3, 2-4-1.
