Breast cancer foundation holding volunteer meeting
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation needs volunteers to help
with the foundation’s annual September race and a May golf tournament.
A free volunteer orientation offered by the foundation will be held
from 6 to 8 p.m. at the foundation’s Orange County Headquarters, 3191
Airport Loop Drive, Costa Mesa.
Participants will learn about the foundation’s programs and have an
opportunity to get involved in the program that suits them best.
The Komen Orange County Race for the Cure will be held Sept. 22 in
Newport Beach and is one of the organization’s most successful
fund-raising events. In its 10 years, the race has raised more than $7.7
million, with 75% of those proceeds staying in Orange County for breast
cancer outreach, screening, treatment and education programs.
Volunteers are also sought for the foundation’s second annual Links to
the Cure golf tournament May 6 in Fullerton.
Orientation will begin with a presentation about the foundation and
information on breast health followed by sessions on specific programs
and volunteer opportunities. A light dinner will be provided.
Reservations are required. Call (714) 957-9157, ext. 27 for more
information.
