CAR CANOPIES

The Planning Commission tonight will review changes to the city’s

ordinance regarding automobile canopies at car dealerships, car washes

and in residential driveways.

WHAT IT MEANS

The law was changed so it falls in line with the city’s sign

ordinance, which says banners should not be torn, dirty or faded.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Planning Commission is expected to recommend the City Council

adopt the ordinance.

VONS REMODELING

The Vons Shopping Center on 17th Street is hoping to remodel by

changing the facade of the building and the parking lot.

Nadel Architects, the authorized agent for Jackson/Vons, a Safeway

Co., have requested variance for the proposed building height of 42 feet.

Under city standards, only 30 feet are permitted.

WHAT IT MEANS

According to a staff report, planning staff noted some problems with

the proposed plan and want more time to resolve concerns with Vons

officials.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Planning commissioners are expected to continue this item to the Feb.

11 meeting.
