The most upscale furniture store in Costa Mesa, Glabman Furniture and

Interior Design, is having the first sale of its kind in the store’s

100-year history -- a “white tent” sale is happening to offer deals on

lavish home furnishings. James Glabman, the company’s chief executive,

says furniture from manufacturers such as EJ Victor and John Widdicomb

are on sale at 50% to 80% off their regular price. Even so, some of the

prices are out of sight -- there’s a grand mahogany partner’s desk with

tooled leather originally priced at $38,255 that is available for

$18,999; a $38,120 EJ Victor romantic queen size Luis XV French bed with

two night stands and an armoire is reduced to $18,995; and a Georgian

dining room set for six by from John Widdicomb’s Victoria and Albert

Museum collection featuring a mahogany-legged table with a satinwood

banded top originally priced at $27,930 reduced to $13,995. There are

more affordable pieces on sale, including a Regency-style Pembroke table

featuring an unusual diamond-pattern, satinwood veneer accented with

Egyptian-inspired inlays originally priced at $8,425 reduced to $3,995,

and a Kindel tea table with a hand-painted removable tray that’s usually

$3,062 is on sale for $1,495. Glabman Furniture and Interior Design was

founded in 1900 and is considered one of the nation’s finest upscale

furniture retailers. Glabman carries top-of-the-line furniture,

accessories, lamps, wall coverings and handmade Oriental rugs, floor

The best in hosiery and body wear is on sale through Jan. 27 at the

Wolford Boutique at South Coast Plaza. The end of the season sale has

markdowns on selected merchandise at 30% to 50% off. The Wolford Boutique

Fitigues, at Fashion Island, is having a sale on its fall and holiday

collections reduced up to 50%. Fitigues carries comfortable clothing for

women, men and children. Their clothing line started out in mostly a

thermal cotton fabric and has expanded to include silk jerseys, velvets,

French designs are on sale at Agnes B., a women’s clothing boutique at

South Coast Plaza. The winter sale features selected merchandise reduced

50%. The boutique really has some unique pieces in top-quality fabrics.

A children’s portrait sale is going on at Yuen Lui Portrait

Photography at South Coast Plaza. The special is for one 8-by-10-inch,

this year’s sale are retired Christopher Radko ornaments reduced 50%

arrivals of beautiful bare-root roses. The selection includes hybrid

teas, grandifloras, floribundas, shrubs, David Austins, climbers and AARS
