Boys basketball: Mesa bombs Foothill, 59-55
The Costa Mesa High senior duo of David Conte and Chad Vakili
combined for 51 points to lead the Mustangs boys basketball team to a
59-55 victory over Foothill for fifth place in the Orange Holiday Classic
Saturday at Chapman University.
Conte, who earned all-tournament laurels, nailed five three-pointers
and finished with a game-high 29 points. Conte, who dished out five
assists and grabbed five rebounds, scored 116 points in the four games in
the tournament (29 points per game). Vakili, who also had five
three-pointers, scored 14 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter, hitting
three three-pointers for the Mustangs (10-5).
Foothill dropped to 9-6.
