CdM boys fall, 79-68
Corona del Mar High’s boys basketball team dropped a 79-68
consolation round decision to Glendale Hoover Thursday morning at
Estancia High’s Coast Classic, sending the Sea Kings into today’s 9 a.m.
encounter with Norte Vista in a 13th-place semifinal.
The Sea Kings, who fell to 3-11, showed marked improvement over its
first-round loss to Mayfair, according to Coach Ryan Curry, who watched
his guard-oriented team penetrate for 22 two-point buckets.
Kevin Mancillas led the way in scoring with 16 points and Pancho Seaborn
(13 points), Jay Northridge (12 points) and Bret Matsen (nine points)
provided a strong balance.
Hoover got rich at the line, hitting 19 of 24, while CdM hit 6 of 11 free
throws.
