Newport, Costa Mesa residents named to court positions
Orange County Superior Court Judge Richard D. Fybel has been named by
Gov. Gray Davis as an associate justice of the Court of Appeals, Fourth
Appellate District, Division Three. The governor also named Senior
Assistant Dist. Atty. Claudia Silbar, Assistant Dist. Atty. Carolyn
Kirkwood and attorney Peter J. Polos as judges of the Orange County
Superior Court.
Fybel, 55, is a Newport Beach resident who has served since last year
in the North Justice Center in Fullerton. Prior to his judgeships, Fybel
was a partner with the law firm Morrison & Foerster from 1981 to 2000. He is a UCLA graduate.
Silbar, 43, is a Costa Mesa resident and one of the highest-ranking
attorneys in the District Attorney’s office, where she has worked since
1989. Silbar is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and the
University of Louisville.
Polos, 36, lives in Corona del Mar and has been a partner with the
Newport Beach law firm of Lopez, Hodes, Restiano, Milman, Skikos & Polos
since 1996. Polos is a graduate of UCLA and Loyola Law School.
