Newport Beach’s chamber of commerce will soon be named as such.

Operating since 1976 as the Newport Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce, the

business association has decided to change its name one again, this time

to one people have already been calling it for years: Newport Beach

Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s something we’ve been considering for a long time,” said Doug

Stuckey, public affairs director for the chamber, which has existed since

1907 under various names. “We think it will give our members greater name

value with Newport Beach and better reflect who we are.”

Stuckey said that the renaming is occurring gradually, “As we run out

of things like stationery with the old name on it, we’ll be replacing it

with the new name,” he said.
