Girls soccer: Sea Kings win a pair

LA VERNE - Corona del Mar High’s girls soccer team won both games

Saturday in the first two rounds of the Bonita Tournament, beating

Cypress, 4-1, and San Gorgonio, 1-0.

The victories improved the Sea Kings, ranked No. 7 by The Times in

Southern California, to 4-1 as they prepare for Tuesday’s big nonleague

showdown against Santa Margarita, ranked No. 2 in Orange County. CdM is

ninth in the county.

Allison Harvey scored for CdM in the 25th minute in the second game,

while goalie Rachel Waters had two saves. In the opener, Lauren

Shepherdson (8th minute), Kristin Hanson (28th), Olivia Mazura (40th) and

Jenny Long (45th) tallied goals for CdM, which will face host Bonita in

the quarterfinals Saturday.
