Women’s basketball: Four sign with UCI
Megan Aaker, Kristen Thawley, Joanna Usher and Lauren Yadon signed
national letters of intent to play women’s basketball for UC Irvine,
Coach Mark Adams announced Wednesday.
Aaker is a 5-foot-11 guard from Laguna Hills High who averaged 18.1
points per game along with 6.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists as a junior. She
was a second-team All-CIF Southern Section Division II-AA selection and
the 2000 Division IIA CIF Player of the Year.
Thawley, a 6-0 forward from Irvine High, averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds as a junior and was a first-team all-county selection. She was
also a two-time All-CIF Southern Section Division I choice and two-time
All-Sea View League honoree.
Usher, a 6-5 center from Chandler, AZ., averaged 9.4 points, 7.9
rebounds and 3.8 blocks as a junior at Seton Catholic High. In the state
of Arizona, she is tied for fifth in blocked shots for a single season
and is fourth in career blocked shots with 110.
Yadon is a 6-3 center out of Villa Park High who averaged 17.6 points
and 9.8 rebounds as a junior. She is a two-time All-Century League
selection.
