The Huntington Beach Art Center’s exhibit, “Crayola Dream-Makers

Exhibition” is showing through Dec. 1 at the gallery, 538 Main St. The

exhibition will feature students’ work from kindergarten through 6th

grade. The gallery’s hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and

SATURDAY

The Huntington Beach Art Center will host “A Day Without Art” from

noon to 9 p.m., Dec. 1 at the center, 538 Main St. The presentation will

be a silent and continuous slide show of work by more than 50 artists who

have died of AIDS-releated illnesses or are living with its affects. The

projections will be visible from the street and will appear more clearly

The Huntington Harbour Garden Club is hosting a Home Tour and Tea to

raise money for floral projects in Huntington Beach. The homes will be

The Huntington Beach Art Center’s exhibit, “Rhapsody” is showing

through Dec. 1. The exhibition will feature Darrow’s works in mixed media

and collage from 1990-2000. Darrow uses ordinary objects such as shows,

scraps of paper and book bindings to create his works. The gallery’s

The Huntington Beach Public Library is hosting a production of the

Nutcracker for children. Ballet Etudes will perform in a 45-minute

production at 4 and 7 p.m., Dec. 5, at the library theater in the central

DEC. 6

HBO and Time Warner Cable will host a screening of the Academy

Award-winning documentary “Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the

Kindertransport” at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 6 at the Huntington Beach Central

Library Theater and Cultural Center, 7111 Talbert Ave. A panel discussion

will follow immediately. The British Parliament enacted the

Kindertransport in 1938 and more than 10,000 Jewish children were placed

with foster parents and in hostels in Great Britain. The majority of the

Musician and conductor of the Golden West College International

Symphonic Band, Tom Hernandez, will head the annual holiday concert,

“Many Moods of Christmas” at 8 p.m. Dec. 6, 7 and 8 and 2 p.m. Dec. 8.

St. Bonaventure Music Ministry will present its annual Christmas

The Huntington Beach Art Center is presenting a group exhibition

featuring photographers Ulla Barr and Christine Nguyen, and painters

Patty Doody and Patrick Williams. The exhibit, titled “Four From the

Floor” features works that capture memories or realities that are either

imagined, splintered or commercialized. New mosaic works from Helen

Fallon will be featured in the Art Center Store. “Four From the Floor”

p.m. There is a shortened schedule on weekends. Classes include a

The Huntington Beach Concert Band is an all-volunteer community

organization with approximately 70 members, led by music director Tom

Ridley. Founded in February 1973, the band plays a wide variety of

musical styles -- from classical, to Broadway, to contemporary. They

perform frequently at events and locations throughout Southern

California, including Disneyland, Leisure World, Huntington Beach Pier

Plaza, and Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. The Huntington Beach Concert

Band is open to all interested musicians age 18 and over. Rehearsals are
