Ayso Region 57: Chaos overcomes Lucky Clovers
Chaos defeated the Lucky Clovers, 2-1, in an AYSO Region 57 girls
under-12 soccer game Saturday.
Jenna Engstrom scored the winning goal late in the game on a shot that
went just outside the reach of the diving Lucky Clovers’ goalkeeper.
Chaos took the lead early in the first half with a goal from Alexi
Henson, but the Lucky Clovers struck back with a goal from Morgan
Presson. Alex Burkhead, Robyn Fischer and Elizabeth Kopaski were strong
on defense for Chaos.
Hailey McCarter, Camille Collette and Megan Gaal contributed on
offense for the Lucky Clovers.
In boys under-12 action:
* Corona del Mar Flaming Ice 3, Corona del Mar Penguins 1 - Nick
Svennson scored two goals with assists from Max Page and George Logan to
lead the Flaming Ice in the first round of the playoffs. Geoffrey Grant
contributed with a goal assisted by Taylor Martini. The Penguins attack
was limited by the strong defense provided by Brian Thomas, John Hess,
Clay Russell, Vlad Vakulenko, Jake Campbell, Ben Anshutz and Ryan
Hultman. Goalkeeper Ford Noe stopped numerous shots to preserve the win.
In boys under-10 action:
* Mako Sharks 6, Flying Tigers 0 - Chris Freeman and Cameron Kopple
each scored two goals to lead the Mako Sharks to their ninth straight
victory. Ryan Peyton and Braydon Blackford each scored one goal.
Midfielders Sebastien Welch and Nick Taormina shut down the Storms’
offense. David Fenner, Saahm Aresh and Taylor Battram protected the
Sharks’ net. The Mako Sharks are seeded first and advance to the regional
playoffs.
In girls under-7 action:
* The Alligators played their final game of the season and received
goals from Catherine Patel, Karissa Reinach and Sally Evans. Also
contributing were Katie Donahue, Caitlin Hutt and Kristina Sparling. The
defense was anchored by Brooke Donahue, Kelsey Christensen and Kati
Wechsler.
